From the point of view of an indie game developer with exceptional game dev skills and a record breaking idea worth tons of fun it is very necessary to find the right audience, marketplace and the platform.

Well this analysis might help you in all of the above.
But first, this would not have been possible without taking the course provided by Mr. Aakash, freecodecamp.org and the wonderful community of jovian.ml.

Now, let’s take a look at the things that I have done here.

Data analysis is about asking the right questions, which in this case are:

  1. What kind of games were made the most of all games?
  2. Which platform have the highest popularity??
  3. Which genre game have the highest sale price Globally?
  4. Which genre had the highest sales in North America?
  5. Pie chart of particular region sale.

Lets visualize:

  1. Genre:

So it does not come as a surprise that the most loved game genre is Action for example: call of duty, PUBG, and a plethora of games like these.

Now a days as seen in pop culture, games are considered as a way of passing time and taking a moment out of our busy lives, so genres like Puzzle, Strategy are not that popular among masses cause they demand concentration and are not so relaxing.

Now ask me(Cause you know I like questions they provoke me to think)how this is of any help for someone who is trying to make a strategy game?

Yeah, that’s why we are doing this. Someone making a strategy game like ‘Chess’ or say ‘Sudoku’ can add a bit of action in those games, like he can animate the pieces of chess or make the players fight a boss by solving sudoku in a given amount of time. Now the games are not all about strategy and have an action side of their own so they will please both the players loving action games and strategy games.

2. Platform:

Again it is a bit obvious that all of us know about ‘Sony’ PlayStation and it is a very good bargain until it the graph drops to Personal Computers, but this one is a bit tricky as most of the games we observe around us are compatible on every device we use like a recent popular game ‘Among us’ is only limited to Android but we always see some one live streaming it on Youtube.

Yes, it might have had been a problem if we were talking about developing a game in 2000s or 1990s but today every game is cross platform.

3. Sales of genre Globally:

In contradiction lies the hope, but how much contradiction is enough contradiction.

Here we see the most popular genre ever was ‘Action’ but Globally ‘Platformer’ games did well, HOW!!!?

Well the devil is in the details.

Let’s us make familiar with the definition platform games.

A platform game(Source: wiki — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platform_game)

Platform games: (often simplified as platformer, or jump ’n’ run) are a video game genre and subgenre of action games. Platformers are characterized by their heavy use of jumping and climbing to navigate the player’s environment and reach their goal. (Source: wiki — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platform_game)

There you have it “sub genre of action games” I will leave rest to you now, make it up.

4. Sales of genre in North America:

North America is a prominent marketplace and there is no doubt that the sales are identical for global and North American marketplaces. The reason I would give behind this phenomenon is that North American marketplace owns around 50% of the global marketplace share.(see 5).

5. Pie chart of particular region sale:

The given pie chart represents the global sales of video games and as told earlier the North American marketplace covers 49.4% of the market share, hence it single handedly beats the other marketplaces combined, but a higher share means it will be hard to please the masses with your game content cause the more hands at play the more demands from the game.

In conclusion if you have an idea to make an awesome game a success do consider the aforementioned points to make a dime in game dev.

So another important thing I will like to talk about is that this is my first project that I have done ever and my first blogpost so far and I do know that only after taking notes and advice from this community I can grow, so everyone is welcome with a little bit of positive criticism, Thanks.
